Elpro AB and Arcam EBM AB Sign Historic AgreementNovember 16, 2017 11:54
On Thursday 29 June, Elpro AB signed a new agreement with Arcam EBM AB, manufacturer of industrial 3D printers. Arcam EBM AB became a customer of Elpro AB in 2003, and, since then, Elpro AB has supplied the company with more than 300 pieces of control equipment.
The agreement will run for three years and involves the production of up to 450 pieces of control equipment with an order value amounting to SEK 150 million. This constitutes a substantial year-on-year expansion.
“We are very pleased and feel honoured, but it also comes with certain obligations. We will need to recruit around 15 new assembly technicians and strengthen our service workforce, as well as double our production area. But owing to the exponential growth of 3D printing as a technology over the last few years, I consider the expansion to be in exactly the right segment,” says Eivind Ottoson, CEO of Elpro.
Pursuant to the agreement, Elpro will undertake to mass produce three different models of complete control cabinets over the next three years, consisting of control systems, high-voltage power supply, electronic equipment racks and computers.
The control cabinets will be utilised by Arcam to manufacture machinery for industrial
3D printing in metal by means of proprietary Electron Beam Melting® technology. This technology facilitates the cost-efficient manufacture of products with advanced designs and functions – primarily within the aerospace and orthopaedic implant industries. The company is listed on the Nasdaq Stockholm Stock Exchange and its head office is located in Mölndal. Learn more at arcamgroup.com.
